Writer Statement: I, Rolando R. Biographical Data: Rolando Gutierrez is an educational and documentary filmmaker dedicated to developing exciting programs living in Arizona. His background in robotics and telecommunications helped develop the required technology for the Discovery Miner Program and has extended this interest to the education of abandoned mine dangers to students in a growing state filled with old mines. His program has extended to participation by major museums, corporations and rescue agencies in Arizona and abroad. He currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona. He has 13 years of service to Arizona citizens. He is the senior member of a highly-trained, all volunteer search and rescue team. They regularly train to respond to abandoned mine incidents, as well as other technical rescue situations. His teams respond to dozens of incidents per year and perform nearly 6-12 mine operations annually working with local fire departments, federal agencies and county rescue operations.
