A drinking water supplied breathing apparatus is simply a modification of a mask to provide a drinking water hose into the face cup while maintaining the mask seal. We have modified masks for BG174A’s, BG4’s and BIO240’s using off the shelf hydration paks by Camelbak.
These prototypes are only for use in training exercises in non-hazardous environments because they have not been tested or approved by NIOSH or MSHA. If the concept proves to provide a significant benefit the private sector can pursue the development of the approved product.
