Hydration Effects – Mine Rescue Work

Notes:

This is a example from our follow-up with Central Mine Rescue in November, just 2 weeks ago.

This graph compares one person who used a BG4 in March and a BG174 with drinking water in November. There was a problem getting the water flowing at first, he did not start to drink until 10:20.

Even though the work rate was similar and the conditions more severe in November, this person stayed much cooler by drinking water.

By 12:00 the 2 liters of water supply was consumed and his core temperature caught up to the levels he had experienced without water within 20 minutes. This points out the importance of continuous hydration.
