This chart depicts the results from a survey of Mine rescuers under air at Barrick, walking the ramps at a rapid pace.

The exercise involved traveling 2000 ft on the level and down 10% ramps for the first 20 minutes, a 4 minute rest/team check, then traveling over 1000 ft up a 10-15% ramp in 16 minutes, stopping for about 30 seconds at each of three intermediate levels on the way up.

The vertical purple line indicates where that individual left the exercise due to leg cramps.

The vertical blue line indicates where that individual was removed due to excessive core temperature at a team check.
