| Dale R. Spring
Dale R. Spring, 49, beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle was called home by our Heavenly Father on Oct. 17, 2002.
Dale was born March 30, 1953, in Milford, Utah, to Walter and Wilma Spring. He grew up in a mining camp near La Sal, in southeastern Utah where his father worked as a uranium miner. He attended school in La Sal and Monticello, Utah. On August 23, 1974, he married Robyn S. Dowley, of Moab, Utah. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dale was an active member of the LDS church and was currently serving as second counselor of the Elder's Quorum in Spring Creek 3rd Ward.
His career as an underground miner spanned more than 30 years. It started in Utah with Homestake Mining Co. and then with the Rio Algom Mining Co., both located near Moab. In 1989, he came to Nevada with his brothers and worked for Echo Bay Minerals at their underground project near Battle Mountain. When that job ended he went to Utah and worked for AMS Mining on a project at Kennecott. Later he returned to Nevada and worked for Small Mine Development at Newmont's Carlin Mine. He was currently a trainer at Barrick's Meikle-Rodeo underground mines near Carlin.
Dale enjoyed working on the mine rescue teams and was team captain when Rio Algom took the national championship for metal mines in 1980. He was a Utah Jazz fan and an avid reader. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn; two sons, Courtney (Becky) of Battle Mountain and Lance Cpl. Christopher Spring of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed at 29 Palms, Calif; and a daughter, Melanie (Danny) Valdez of Spring Creek. Dale was devoted "Papa" to Jordan, Kaylee and Damon, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his mother, Wilma Spring of Nephi, Utah; brothers, Lawrence, of Battle Mountain and Steven (Kathy) of Elko; sister, Lisa (Brian) Dravage of Nephi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Spring.
