Forge Facts
Valley Forge is a military academy and college - but most Valley Forge students do not pursue military careers. Regardless of their personal or professional goals, all cadets benefit from an educational experience that ensures the mental and physical discipline, teamwork, and leadership training students need to excel.
Mission Statement
To educate cadets, within an academic and military environment to be fully prepared for their responsibilities as citizen leaders who are mentally alert, sound in body, considerate of others and possessed of the highest sense of duty, honor, loyalty and courage.
To foster the love of God and country, high moral standards and strong character traits that will make all a credit to themselves, their families, their alma mater, their country, and their God.
The Institution
Valley Forge is one institution with two distinct academic units:
Valley Forge Military Academy is a residential learning environment serving middle school students and high school students (grades 7 through post-graduate).
Valley Forge Military College is a two-year college for students seeking to transfer to a four-year college, university, or service academy.
When you consider the life-changing impact Valley Forge Military Academy & College has on the cadets who attend; the experience is one of tremendous value. The 2009-2010 annual charges for the Academy Grades 7-12 & postgraduate is $35,890; Academy Middle School is $34,490; Academy Day School is $21,400; College is $36,890.
These costs encompass tuition and fees, room and board, uniforms, required personal supplies, laundry and dry-cleaning, haircuts, shoe repair, and health care. Other expenses may include computer/technology fee, textbooks, personal allowance, SCUBA training, aviation and driver's education, or membership in the cavalry troop or artillery battery. A fee is charged for Health Center care that lasts more than 24 hours and MMP.
The feature film, Taps, starring George C. Scott, Timothy Hutton, Sean Penn and Tom Cruise was filmed on location at Valley Forge. The film was first released in December 1981.
