Photo No. 1:
Sure to go down in the annals of stupidity, this photo is of the PA State Rescue Team in the 1986 King Coal Parade in Carmichaels, PA.  All team members can relate to and appreciate the coordination required with 5 team members attached to a lifeline.  In their infinite wisdom, the DMS leadership at that time decided to do it with 12 people attached.

Although only 3 are pictured here, you can begin to see the effects of attempting this feat by the appearance of the 3rd person in line.  Imagine that there were 9 others behind him, half of which were never paying attention to the line's movement until they felt the jerk on their belt.

This experience is now affectionately referred to as the "Dopes-on-a-Rope" parade.  And yes, the lead dope is none other than your own, Rob McGee.  The others pictured haven't been identified to protect the innocent.

Pictured here is the PA Deep Mine Safety Rescue Team passing in review at the 1985 King Coal Parade in Carmichaels, PA.  The King Coal Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2003.  Included in the photo are USMRA members Matt Bertovich, Rob McGee, and Lonnie Miller.
